When I was asked to shoot a studio portrait for a Verizon Wireless print ad with McCann-Erickson, I was pumped. When I was told that the person would be standing next to a car (and that the car need to look “well-lit”), I was a touch nervous. I’m not a car photographer. I don’t pretend to be. I have a reverence for those who are.
A few days before the shoot, I took a bunch of black plexi squares into a studio and practiced. Figuring how to deal with every surface being reflective. Below is the final image and some behind the scenes stuff. I still don’t claim to be a car photographer, but I think I did pretty good for a guy who shoots people.
